Programs

With a network of eager providers and a staff of enthusiastic volunteers, Gallatin Shalom Zone is committed to seeing the following programs come to fruition:

  • Community day care center.

Already equipped with offices, classrooms, and rest rooms, the stand-alone building that once served as home to the Union High Marching Band is a perfect location for a day care facility.

  • AdultLearningCenter.

The center will offer GED, ABE, and ESL classes.

  • After-school extended-care programs.

These programs will be provided for school-age children.

  • Mentoring and enrichment for at-risk children of all ages.

This will be provided by the Achievement in the Making (AIM) organization.

  • Summer recreational activities for youth.

  • Various youth programs.

The Boys and Girls Clubs will sponsor these programs.

  • Computer literacy and training for all ages.

  • Space designed for study.

This will include internal library resources, tutoring, and homework help.

  • Family Resource Center.

Sumner County Schools will provide this benefit.

  • Free medical screening clinic.

Health providers who have expressed a desire to volunteer their time within the community will staff the clinic.

  • A meeting place for community groups.

  • Office space for Gallatin Shalom Zone staff.

  • Display space for HistoricalUnionHigh School Archives and Museum.

“Gallatin Shalom Zone has also allowed persons who would not normally work together to come together for a common cause that will inevitably help our entire community. In the very near future, it will be a place of learning, a place of hope, a place of renewed relationships, and a place of new beginnings.”

– Felecia Lewis, Chairperson, Gallatin Shalom Zone Inc.
