Urban Leadership Experience
This civics and leadership program for middle and high schoolers introduces youth to the array of resources that are available within their community.
The program focuses on character development, leadership skills, relationship building, community development, workforce development, health and well-being, life skills, citizenship, historical references and context, and offers an introduction to post-secondary education opportunities.
Both weeks enjoy informative and fun day trips in and around Sumner County. Our High Schoolers also travel to Nashville to learn how to navigate the city, and culminate their week with a day trip to Birmingham, AL. Two weeks are offered:
Week 1: July 10-14 for Middle School rising 7-9th graders
Week 2: July 17-21 for High School rising 10-12th graders
Thanks to our friends at Dollar General Literacy Foundation and United Way of Sumner County, the entirety of this program is offered free to all selected applicants.
